What does true hospitality mean?
Hospitality is a word we use often.
So often that we sometimes forget its true meaning.
In the travel industry, it is often associated with service, comfort or amenities. But for us, hospitality has never been a list of services.
It is a feeling.
A feeling of being welcome.
A feeling that someone has taken care of you.
A feeling that you’ve found yourself in a place where people enjoy your presence.
It is this idea that underlies everything we do at Skabrin House.
A home, not just a place to stay
When we were creating Skabrin House, we didn’t want to build a space that looked like a hotel.
We wanted to create a place that felt like home.
Not because it reminds you of your own home.
And because it creates the same sense of calm, security and belonging.
We believe that the best places are those where one can relax, slow down, and simply be themselves.
Guest is not a reservation
In the everyday life of hospitality, it is easy for people to become numbers, rooms, or reservations.
We try not to forget that behind every arrival there is a person with their own story.
Someone is coming to celebrate a special occasion.
Someone is looking for a break after busy months.
Someone is visiting Bansko for the first time.
Another one is coming back again.
For us, every guest brings a different reason to be here and that is what makes every welcome different.
Attention to the little things
True hospitality rarely lies in grand gestures.
It lives in the details.
In the warm welcome after a long journey.
In the recommendation for a favorite trail in Pirin.
At the reserved dinner table.
In the glass of wine after a day in the mountains.
In those little moments that can’t be described in a list of services.
Often, it is they who remain in the memories the longest.
Respect for the place
For us, hospitality is not only about the attitude towards people, but also about the attitude towards the place.
To the history of the house.
To the culture of Bansko.
To the nature of Pirin.
To local producers and artisans.
We believe that when a place respects its roots, guests feel it.
Authenticity cannot be artificially created.
It is built with time, care and attention.
To create memories
At the end of each stay, guests do not leave with the room they were accommodated in.
They leave with the memories.
The morning light in the yard.
The walk through the Old Town.
The aroma of seasonal produce on the table.
The view of the mountain.
The conversations.
The little surprises.
The feeling of calm.
If we have managed to be part of these memories, then we have fulfilled our task.
Our understanding of hospitality
For us, hospitality is not a profession.
It is an attitude towards people.
A desire to share a place you love.
To show the beauty of the region.
To create a space where one feels good.
And when guests leave with the desire to come back again, we take that as the greatest recognition.
Because we believe that true hospitality begins with respect, progresses through care, and remains in memories long after the trip is over.
