When tradition meets modernity
Some places choose between the past and the future.
We believe that the most beautiful stories happen where the two meet.
Skabrin House was born from this very idea – that tradition should not be kept behind a window and that modernity does not mean forgetting where we come from.
On the contrary.
When the past and present find a common language, spaces with character, meaning, and soul are created.
A story that lives on
Built in 1923, the house carries more than a century of history.
It has experienced different eras, generations and changes. Throughout this time, it has remained part of the appearance of the Old Town in Bansko and a witness to the life that has developed around it.
When we began its restoration, we knew one thing – we did not want to create a copy of the past.
We wanted to let him continue.
Because history is not something finished.
It is written every day.
Memory architecture
Old houses have a quality that is difficult to design today.
They bear the traces of time.
In the tree.
In the stone.
In the way the light comes in through the windows.
In the proportions of the spaces.
During the restoration, we sought to preserve these elements not as decorative accents, but as part of the house’s identity.
They don’t tell the story.
They are the story.
Modern comfort as a natural extension
Preserving a historic building does not mean staying in the past.
Today’s travelers are looking for convenience, peace and quality. Our task was to integrate all these elements in a way that does not disrupt the character of the place.
Thus, modern design has become not a contrast, but a continuation of history.
Clean lines, natural materials and attention to detail create a balance between old and new.
A balance that is not intrusive.
And it feels good.
The same approach in the kitchen
The philosophy of the meeting between tradition and modernity does not stop at architecture.
She is also present at the table.
We are inspired by local products, seasonality and the flavors of the region.
But instead of reproducing the familiar, we are looking for a new reading of tradition.
We respect the past.
But we are not afraid to experiment.
Just as an old house can be given new life, familiar flavors can be discovered in a new way.
Bansko between two worlds
Maybe that’s why this philosophy feels so natural here.
Bansko also lives between tradition and modernity.
On one side are the cobblestone streets, old houses and centuries-old culture.
On the other hand – new people, new ideas and the dynamics of a city that continues to develop.
This coexistence makes the place unique.
And it inspires us every day.
The beauty of balance
In a world that constantly forces us to choose between the old and the new, between tradition and change, we believe in something different.
We believe in balance.
In respect for heritage.
In the courage to create something new.
In the idea that the best experiences are born when the past and present complement each other, not oppose each other.
This is the philosophy of Skabrin House.
And perhaps it is she who makes the house more than just a place to stay.
It makes it a place where different times meet under one roof.
